Asbestos FAQs

How do I know if my building contains asbestos?

Any New Zealand building constructed or renovated before 2000 may contain asbestos. The only way to be certain is an asbestos survey, where we sample suspect materials and have them analysed by an accredited laboratory.

Do I legally need a licensed removalist?

In New Zealand, removing more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos — or any friable asbestos — must be carried out by a WorkSafe-licensed removalist. Apex holds a Class B licence for non-friable asbestos removal.

How long does asbestos removal take?

Most residential jobs take one to three days including set-up, removal, disposal and clearance. Larger commercial sites are scheduled around your programme. You'll get a clear timeline with your fixed quote.

Will I get documentation when the job is done?

Yes. Every job finishes with a clearance certificate and disposal records, giving you full compliance documentation for your project, council or property sale.

Which areas do you service?

We're based in the central North Island and travel North Island wide. We have team members based in Auckland, Hamilton, Whitianga and Mt Maunganui, covering the Waikato, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo and beyond. If you're nearby and unsure, just ask.
